Manufacturing Update #7 (The Final Countdown)

Hello Backers,
This should be the next to last manufacturing update! The first rolls are coming off the line as we speak. Here are a few pics of the Red, Green, Olive and Navy colors below. They look great!
We are still on track for delivery in the next two weeks (it's going to take a week or two to get everything out). That means you will have your Tashtego Roll by the holidays.
The new colors (and all other colors) will be available in the store (www.tashtego.co) the minute the last reward roll goes out the door. We are headed to Yosemite this weekend to take a few pictures for the store. Join us on Facebook for some sneak peeks: https://www.facebook.com/Tashtegokits
A few of you asked for more details of v2. Yes, that’s a drapery cleat for cords! Here are a few pictures of each section of the prototype we are currently working on:
What else besides toiletries would you like to carry? Front runners so far are makeup, bike tools, EDC (Every Day Carry) things like cords, chargers and thumb drives, bar tools, and wrenches. Should we make versions with those items stocked?

Manufacturing Update #6 (and new prototype)

Hello, backers!
A quick manufacturing update…the pieces are coming together!
Here is the main pocket section for the navy color.
You can just see the twill tape on the inside that helps to keep items from falling out. The main pocket sections are done, as well as the zipper pocket. Now we just need to put all the pieces together, and we’ll be ready to go!
We are still on track for a mid-November delivery. In case you want to stock up on any other colors for Christmas presents, the store (www.tashtego.co) will go live right after the rewards have shipped. New colors include bright blue, bright green, orange and red (which were not available in the original fabric).
Also, here’s a look at what’s up next: as you know, we think tool rolls are a simple, compact way to carry everything from wrenches to makeup pencils. But no single tool roll can accommodate everything. Our solution? Detachable sections. Rather than a single roll, you can combine a left, middle and right section to accommodate whatever you want carry.
Want to carry a set of wrenches with your toiletries? Screwdrivers with watercolor brushes? No problem! You can do that.

Manufacturing Update #5

Hello, backers!
We are officially in production. WOOO-HOOO!
For all of you who like to know the nitty-gritty details, here are a few.... each roll is made of 4 pieces of fabric: the back, the main pocket piece, the top of the zipper pocket and the tiny pocket above the main pockets (not counting the twill tape on the inside of the pockets). After cutting the fabric, the first step is sewing the zipper to the top of the zipper pocket. Here are a few pics of pieces with the zipper attached:
I’ll send more pics of each step as we get there so you can see your roll coming together. We are still on track for a mid-November shipping date, too!
Just for fun, we got a few rolls of funky colors (orange, red, bright blue and green) that weren't available in the original fabric. Rolls in these colors will be available in our store (www.tashtego.co) right after all the Kickstarter units are shipped.

Just a quick manufacturing update: every component but the zippers has arrived (zippers scheduled for next week). Here are pics of the belts being cut and the 845 yards of fabric that just arrived.
The factory is creating the final Test of Production sample this week (exactly what will be made with all the real components).

Hello Backers!
Just a quick (and exciting) manufacturing update - all the components are arriving. Here are the Tashtego patches that will go on the outside of the rolls and 1600 grommets and buckles.
Fabric arrives tomorrow. All the leather for the belts has been delivered to the cutting factory in South San Francisco and the cutting die is in transit. It’s coming together!
